VERSATILITY HERDING CATEGORIES
HGVC- Herding Grand Versatility & Conformation -Top & Highest Award:
1 - Herding Title/Test Certificate,

Miniature American Shepherds are in the AKC Herding Group of dogs; therefore, members are encouraged to stay true to the herding breed. Our dogs are also known for their versatility. It is understood not everyone has access to stock and herding. The Versatility Awards, therefore, are divided into two categories. There are 6 awards in the Herding Category which require earning a herding title/certificate during the year and 6 awards in the Non-Herding Category, which does not. Mid America is an AKC club, but because there are many venues to show in, the Versatility Awards recognize venues other than AKC. (Venue = AKC, UKC, or other organization.)
As of 2016 YVA is no longer an accumulative award but a yearly award. The first year a dog is listed on this page the team will receive a plaque. Each year after the dogs must be active with yearly titles for which they will receive a plate to attach to the original plaque (or other award to be determined by our Yearly Awards Team). As of 2014 all dogs who participate in Yearly Versatility Awards MUST be registered as a Miniature American Shepherd either in AKC full registration, FSS or ILP.
